Forging Ingots for Industrial Rollers
Rollers and roll shafts are heavy, wear-loaded forgings. They are forged from ingots, then machined and heat treated for surface hardness and core strength.
We supply forging ingots for industrial rollers in carbon and alloy grades, in the medium to heavy marks.
Typical components
- Mill and calender rollers
- Sugar mill rollers
- Roll shafts
- Press rollers
Recommended steel grades
SAE 1045 / C45
A common medium carbon steel with good strength and machinability. Often used in the normalised or quenched and tempered condition.
EN8
General-purpose medium carbon steel with a good balance of strength and machinability. It responds to quenching and tempering in small and medium sections.
EN19
A widely used chrome-moly steel with good hardenability, toughness and fatigue strength in the quenched and tempered condition.
EN24
A high strength, deep hardening steel with very good toughness, used where heavy sections must harden right through.
SAE 4140
The American-designation counterpart of EN19 and 42CrMo4. Strong, tough and easy to heat treat.
