Carbon Steel Forging Ingots
Carbon steel forging ingots are the economical choice for forgings that do not need alloy hardenability. Kesari Alloys is a carbon steel forging ingot manufacturer and carbon steel ingot supplier India forging shops use for shafts, discs and rings.

Carbon steel ingot grades by carbon level
Low carbon steel forging ingots (about 0.25% C and below, such as SAE 1018 and 1020) are soft and easy to form and weld. Medium carbon steel forging ingots (about 0.30–0.55% C, such as EN8, C45 and SAE 1045) balance strength and machinability. High carbon steel forging ingots (above about 0.55% C, such as EN9 and C60) are used for wear parts and springs.
Sizes and supply
Kesari Alloys supplies forging ingots in square, fluted and round shapes from M1.5 (about 1.45 tonne) to M22 (about 23.5 tonne with hot top), vacuum degassed, ladle refined and bottom poured.
Carbon steel ingot price follows the carbon grade and the melting route; see the price guide.

Questions
What is the difference between low, medium and high carbon forging ingots?
The carbon content. Low carbon is soft and easy to form and weld, medium carbon balances strength and machinability, and high carbon is harder and used for wear parts and springs.
